In keeping with past practice, the congress
organisers are offering the opportunity for undergraduate
and postgraduate students to attend the congress under the
Congress Youth Program.
Numbers will be limited, but the actual number will depend
to a certain extent on the level of demand and the number
that can be effectively supervised in a proposed post congress
tour.
Successful applicants will be required to present a paper
in a special session at the congress. Abstracts must be submitted
by 7 September 2007.
In keeping with the program’s “youth” title,
it is suggested that applicants should not be more
than 30 years of age.
The Congress organisation will meet the following
costs:
- Fulltime congress registration fee
- Accommodation during the congress (up to six nights in
private university/college style accommodation with shared
bathroom facilities)
- Post congress tour (includes meals, transport and twin
share accommodation) – Saturday 5 July to Wednesday
9 July 2008
Please note that participants will be required to
meet their own travel costs to and from Brisbane.
Applicants should thus seek sponsorship funding for their
travel from their own organisations, from the local branch
of WPSA or from other sources. Proof of travel funding must
be submitted with applications.
Congress registration will include access to all sessions,
access to the trade exhibition, the welcome reception, the
opening and closing ceremonies, as well as lunches and morning
and afternoon teas. Participants will be accommodated in university/college
style accommodation (private rooms, however with shared bathroom
facilities) at a location not far from the congress venue.
A number of interesting activities have been planned during
the week of the congress and a blend of interesting professional
and exciting recreational activities have been planned for
the post congress tour, commencing on Saturday 5 July, returning
to Brisbane on Wednesday 9 July.
Confirmed post congress tour details, including a full itinerary,
will be forwarded to all successful applicants closer to the
time.
We strongly recommend all potential participants investigate
visa requirements for travel to Australia – processing
times can be long, so the earlier the application the better.
For more information, contact your nearest Australian Embassy/Consulate
or view the Australian Department of Immigration website www.immi.gov.au/eta
Visa applications will be the individual’s responsibility.
