Registration entitlements

Full registration includes session and industry exhibition admission, opening ceremony, welcome reception, daily morning and afternoon teas, stand-up lunches on Tuesday to Friday, a satchel containing the handbook, proceedings on CD, and other material.
Student registration includes the same benefits as full delegate registration. Proof of fulltime student status must be provided.
Day registration includes sessions presented that day, admission to industry exhibition, morning and afternoon tea and lunch (on the day of registration), and a satchel containing the handbook and other material.
Exhibitor fulltime registration includes session and industry exhibition admission, opening ceremony, welcome reception, daily morning and afternoon teas, stand-up lunches on Tuesday to
Thursday, a satchel containing the handbook, proceedings on CD, and other material.
Accompanying person registration includes the opening ceremony and welcome reception, and a ticket to the Morning City Sights with River Cruise Tour (being held Tuesday 1 July 2008)

Registration cancellation policy

All cancellations must be notified in writing to Event Planners Australia. Cancellations received prior to 29 February 2008 will be refunded less a handling fee of AUD120. Cancellations received  on or after 1 March and prior 29 May will receive a 50% refund of registration fees paid. No refunds will be paid for cancellations on or after 30 May. If you cannot attend, your registration may be transferred to another member of your organisation. Please note that registration refunds will not be granted based on inability to obtain a visa to enter Australia – if delegates are unsure of their ability to obtain a visa we recommend they investigate travel insurance.

Payment

  • All prices are in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST.
  • Payment may be made via: Cheques or bank drafts - payable to Event Planners Australia, in Australian currency, drawn on an Australian bank and free of all charges; by credit card; or via EFT (see details below).
  • Please note that debits to your credit card will appear as Event Planners Australia on your statement.
  • Payment must accompany your registration form. Congress registration cannot be confirmed until payment is received.
  • Payment must be received by the due date to receive the discount, otherwise the next level of payment will be charged.
  • Also, please note accommodation cannot be booked until a deposit of at least one night’s tariff or credit card details are received by the Congress Managers.

Please ensure that the amount transferred is equal to the total due, and that any bank charges are covered separately. Privacy and SPAM statement

  • Your name, organisation and country/state of origin may be published on the delegate list which is provided to delegates at the event
  • Your name and contact information may be used by the Congress Manager and other approved stakeholders such as the host body and sponsors, in connection with promotion, networking, revenue raising and administration of this event and future events of this type
  • We intend to communicate with you via email from time to time in relation to promoting and managing this event and future events of this type.  Should you not wish your details to be used for any of these purposes, please contact the Congress Managers at wpc2008@im.com.au

Accommodation

Special rates have been negotiated with the following venues and are applicable for extended stays, subject to availability. To take advantage of these savings, please read the following information carefully and complete the accommodation booking section on the registration form at the end of this brochure. These room rates are available only by booking through the Congress Managers.

  • Rates – prices quoted per room per night in Australian dollars and are GST inclusive
  • Deposits – a deposit of at least one night’s tariff must accompany your registration form. Alternatively, your credit card details will be passed on to the hotel. The hotel, at its discretion, may process this debit immediately or wait until check-out. The final account must be settled on check-out direct with the accommodation venue. A tax invoice/receipt  will be issued at that time.
  • Book early – while all reservations are subject to availability, early bookings are encouraged to secure your preferred hotel. Special rates cannot be guaranteed for reservations received on or after 29 May 2008
  • Early arrivals – if you would like to check in before 1500 hours, please pre-register (book for the night before). This is advisable for international delegates arriving on early morning flights 
  • Late arrivals – please indicate if you will arrive at your hotel after 1800 hours to avoid your room being released and a no show fee being charged
  • Cancellations – no accommodation deposits will be refunded on or after 29 May 2008. In addition, cancellations in whole or part may incur an extra penalty at the hotel’s discretion – these range from 14 days to 48 hours prior to check in – please check with the congress managers for individual cancellation policies
  • New bookings or changes to existing reservations made on or after 29 May 2008 will incur an additional AUD22 processing fee
  • All information is correct at time of printing and is subject to change without notice

A great option for families with large kitchens and separate laundry with washer and dryer in all one and two bedroom apartments. Hillcrest is a 10 minute walk to South Bank parklands and the Convention Centre. There are limited rooms available at this property.

Hotel George Williams

Hotel George Williams is conveniently located opposite the Brisbane Transit Centre, only minutes away from Brisbane’s central business district and shopping precinct, Treasury Casino and South

University accommodation

Emmanuel College

Travel Information

Airport and flights

Brisbane’s airports are relatively close to the city centre and easily accessible by car , taxi and train.

Brisbane International Airport

(16 km from Brisbane city centre) 
Open all day, every day, the airport services all major airlines for destinations around the world. There are direct non-stop international flights to Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Los Angeles, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Brisbane Domestic Airport

(18 km from Brisbane city centre, near the International Airport)
The domestic airport is used for all flights within Australia. Travelling between the international and domestic terminals is quick and simple via the Airtrain or taxi.

Airport/Hotel Transfers

Coachtrans operates a shuttle service between Brisbane domestic and international airports and the Roma Street Transit Centre and city hotels. The service runs every 30 minutes from 0515 – 2315 hours daily. The cost is AUD12 one way per adult and AUD8 per child. Bookings can be made at the domestic and international terminals.
Taxis from Brisbane airport to the city centre take approximately 30 minutes and cost approximately AUD40. The Airtrain rail service links Brisbane domestic and international airport terminals to the city of Brisbane. The service takes approximately 22 minutes into the CBD and costs AUD12 one way. It also links to services to the Gold Coast. Tickets can be purchased (with cash or credit cards) via vending machines on the platform. Travel insurance

The Congress Managers recommend that delegates purchase travel insurance including cover for non-refundable Congress registration fees.

Visas

All travellers to Australia, other than Australian and New Zealand citizens, are legally required to hold a valid visa or electronic travel authority (ETA). It is your responsibility to ensure documentation is correct and completed before you commence your journey. Delegates must register for the event before lodging their visa/ETA application. Following your registration, you will receive an acknowledgment letter. This is all you require from the Congress Manager to make your visa/ETA application. We recommend you apply for your visa/ETA at least 8-12 weeks before you travel. Quarantine

Australia has very strict quarantine rules which are enforced at all ports and airports. Animal and plant product imports are strictly controlled and prior application must be made to bring these into the country. Numerous food products such as meat, fruit and vegetables are also restricted and must be declared when entering the country. Passengers’ luggage is inspected using sniffer dogs.
