Brisbane
is an attractive city - its skyline mixes streamlined glass
towers with smaller historical buildings made of sandstone.
Pavement cafes, parks and tree-lined streets, together with
a large city botanical garden pleasantly enhance the city buildings.
In close proximity to the Congress venue, the Brisbane Convention
and Exhibition Centre, is Brisbane's Cultural Centre, comprising
the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery and State Library
as well as three preforming arts venues.
Some
of Australia's interesting and unusual wildlife can be seen
at places like the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and at Steve
[The Crocodile Hunter] Irwin's Australia Zoo. These, and many
other attractions, are just a short drive out of Brisbane.
Brisbane is also only one hour's drive from
the north and south coast beaches - the Sunshine and Gold
Coasts. White sandy beaches stretching between rocky headlands
extend in seemingly endless procession around Australia's
coastline.
